Every delivery is a family welcoming a new life
Julia

Today I delivered two things in person: a cake made for a new mother, and a gift pack of baby-cleaning essentials for her little one. The cake was part of the Father’s Day bundle she ordered from us back then. Now that her baby has arrived safely, I could finally bring her those good wishes myself.
I’m always happy when I start delivering confinement meals to a mother. It means the little one we have all been waiting for is here, and that she is beginning the weeks after birth, when she needs looking after more than anyone.
Everyone’s eyes go to the baby, and that’s natural. But I keep thinking about the mother. Has she eaten properly today? How did she sleep last night? Amid caring for the baby, is there any time left for herself?
So when I bring a gift in person, I try not to disturb her rest, and I don’t ask her to come out for a photo. She has just given birth, and she is feeding and caring for a newborn. A little more rest is precious.
A quick photo outside the door, like the ones here, to remember the gift arriving, is all I need.
For me, part of what a confinement meal service is worth is the time and energy it takes off a family’s plate every day. Shopping, planning the menu, cooking: with one less thing to worry about, the family has more time to be with the mother and care for the newborn, and she can find the time to eat, rest and recover with peace of mind.
The cake is a celebration. The gift pack is a token of care. And the meals that arrive every day are how we keep her company.
Watching a family welcome a new member, and knowing we can help a little through these busy, precious days, is why every delivery makes me happy.
Wishing the baby a healthy start, and wishing the mother a family that loves her and looks after her well. You’ve worked so hard. These good wishes are for you, too.
